What Happens if the Prescription Changes Early?
No-one can predict when kids go through a growth spurt. It’s therefore natural to think about what happens if your child’s myopia changes and the possible further costs. We understand that offering premium treatments like MiYOSMART can be costly. That’s why our manufacturers offer a 12 month warranty. If your child’s prescription changes by more than 0.5D (the normal change in myopia over a year) within the first year, they will provide a free set of lenses.

Get Started with MiYOSMART
STEP 1: Book Myopia Consultation
A myopia management consultation costs £95. This, together with your NHS eye test will allow us to assess your child’s suitability for various myopia management options and set benchmarks for success. The consultation involves measuring the length of the eye using non-contact optical interferometry.
STEP 2: Dispense Lenses
If MiYOSMART lenses are suitable, you will then see our Dispensing Optician. You will be offered our MiYOSMART Plan or alternatively you can just pay for the spectacles. We’ll help you select the correct frame for the lenses, you can also use your own frame if it is suitable for MiYOSMART lenses.
STEP 3: Enrolment & 6 Month Follow-ups
We’ll see you for a virtual follow-up appointment at after 2 weeks. The consultation is usually done as a video call. We will ask a number of questions to assess how your child is performing. If a face-to-face appointment is found to be necessary, we will book you in. A 6 month face-to-face follow-up will be arranged if everything is fine.
What is the Cost of MiYOSMART?
#Option 1: Complete Lens & Examination Plan
The MiYOSMART Plan offers complete specialised myopia management consultations every 6 months. These consultations involve measuring the length of the eye using interferometry as well as assessing binocular vision and focussing lag (a finding associated with myopia progression). These examinations are not part of the standard NHS sight test.
If you sign-up for the Myopia Management Plan, you will receive 20% off the cost of the 1st pair MiYOSMART lenses (£279.20, normally £349). Any MiYOSMART lenses after this are included in the cost of the plan.
MiYOSMART Plan £44 per month
Terms:
- MiYOSMART Plan is for a fixed 12 month period.
- Any new MiYOSMART lenses required are included after 6 months.
- The plan covers the cost of 1 pair of MiYOSMART lenses.
- Manufacturer warranty is separate to this agreement, therefore if the child requires new lenses due to a change in prescription within the first year, these will be provided free of charge.
- MiYOSMART Plan does not cover the cost of any frames (30% discount is provided as part of the plan).
#Option 2: Pay-as-you-go
If you elect to not have the on-going care and follow-up appointments included in the MiYOSMART Plan, we will not be able to inform you if treatment is working to a sufficient level of accuracy. This is because changes in prescription are 3 times less accurate in detecting progression compared to technologies like interferometry used in measuring eye growth.
MiYOSMART lenses only: £349
Manufacturer’s warranty still applies, so if there is a change in prescription within the 1st year, there will be no charge for new lenses.
Terms:
- Warranty does not cover spectacle frames.
- Damaged, scratched or lost spectacles are not covered by the manufacturer warranty.
- Warranty does not renew once replacement lenses are provided.

3 Reasons to Choose Us for Myopia Management
Dedicated Myopia Management Equipment
We use the most robust clinical examination and monitoring protocols. Key to this is our ability to measure axial length – a direct measure to assess eye growth. Whilst you may be under the impression that simply measuring the prescription is the best way to see if myopia management is working, this is not the case. Axial length measurement is 3x more sensitive to changes in eye growth compared to measuring optical prescription changes. This matters because having confidence in knowing the treatment is working is key to deciding when to switch treatments.
